OVERVIEW
For decades, alumni giving rates (i.e., the percentage of living alumni who donate to their alma mater each year) have been one of the key factors used by US News & World Report when ranking colleges and universities. But its recent decision to exclude this metric from its ranking methodology is generating reactions and raising questions for educational institutions and their annual giving programs. While some in the field celebrate this change, others wonder what the long-term impact might be and if there could be any negative implications.
WHAT YOU'LL DISCOVER
Exploring this topic, Dan Allenby (AGN) will lead a panel discussion with Bob Morse (Chief Data Strategist at U.S. News & World Report), Matthew Lambert (VP for Advancement at William & Mary), Cara Giacomini (VP for Data, Research and Technology at CASE), Jocelyn Kane (Managing Director of the Yale Alumni Fund), and Tyrell Warren Burnette (Senior Director of Annual Giving at Oregon State). Among the questions they will address are:
- How and why were alumni giving rates previously calculated and used?
- What was the reason for removing alumni giving from the methodology?
- What could be some of the benefits of the change? Could there be any downsides?
- How might this change affect annual giving programs in the future?
- And more!
