As school advancement teams adjust to the COVID-19 Pandemic, one of the many challenges they face is how to move forward with their annual fund appeals. To explore this issue, Dan Allenby (AGN) led a conversation with industry experts Skylar Beaver (Lawrenceville School), Jenny Daigle Benoit (Penn State), and Emily Kernan (U. of Pennsylvania) in which they shared their experiences, offered perspectives, and tackled important questions.

Skylar Beaver

With more than 15 years of experience in annual giving and educational fundraising, Skylar has led programs at The Lawrenceville School, The Spence School, Washington and Lee University, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Her other experience includes work as the Chair of STAFF (Sharing the Annual Fund Fundamentals). Skylar has a B.A. in Sociology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and an M.P.A. in nonprofit management from SUNY Brockport.

Jenny Daigle Benoit

Executive Director of Annual Giving, The Pennsylvania State University

Jenny Daigle Benoit is the Executive Director of Annual Giving at The Pennsylvania State University, where she oversees direct appeal and annual fund volunteer programs across the institution. Previously, she served as the Senior Director of Annual Giving at Tulane University, where she worked for over 15 years in positions of increasing responsibility. She's an active member of the Annual Giving Directors' Consortium and a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Jenny holds a Bachelor's degree from Tulane University and is currently pursuing her Master of Education in Higher Education at Penn State.

Emily Kernan

With more than 15 years of experience in annual giving and educational fundraising, Emily has led programs at the University of Pennsylvania, Rice University, and Lafayette College. Her other experience includes presenting for CASE and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and teaching at Rice's Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership. She holds a B.A. in English from Binghamton University and an M.S. in Nonprofit Leadership from Penn's School of Social Policy and Practice.
